Learning to like yourself more each day is very important for your future success. How do you think others feel about you, when you don’t like yourself?

Granted, maybe you have had a tough life and done some inappropriate things, but that is behind you now and it is time to move forward. It is time to put the past in the past and look ahead toward better feelings about you. If you so desire and choose, you can change you opinion of yourself and learn to like yourself more each day.

Today is the best day to begin the process, here’s how:

Be willing to face your fears head on and defeat them:

It is time to stop fear from robbing you of the satisfaction that is possible when   you are able to accomplish your dreams. Many people have been confronted with fear and failure but chose instead to push forward. Think of Edison who never gave up trying to find the right way to make a light bulb work. In fact he failed over 10,000 times. If he had given up we would be living in a completely different world. The point is you must keep trying until you succeed at achieving your goal.

Perhaps you have a fear of meeting new people or living in new places, but keep in mind, you’ve made friends before and you can make new ones again. Once you get used to where you are its not new anymore.  Besides, with email and text messaging how far away from friends are you these days?

Giving in to fears gives them more power then they deserve. Face them, and their power dissipates very quickly until they vanish altogether.

Start using positive language when talking and referring to yourself:

If you are in the habit of putting yourself down and calling yourself ridiculous names, it must stop, today. How you talk about yourself can have a profound effect on your feelings and self-confidence. How you talk to yourself can change the way you think and feel, both toward the negative and toward the positive.

  • Begin to speak about yourself with positive words and tone. Take some time out of each day, preferably on a regular basis to engage in some positive self-talk. You can use affirmations such as:

“I am an attractive person.”

“I am a good parent.”

“I am a hard worker.”

“I love myself.”

“I like how I look in these clothes.”

“I am brilliant.”

At first you may think it is ridiculous to do this and you may not even believe what you are saying, but keep with it anyway. Shortly you begin to feel the effects that this new positive self-talk will have on our mind and emotions. If you are religious, find some positive scriptures from your book and use them as positive affirmations.

Replace insecurity with self-confidence: Learning to be more confident is really about learning how to trust yourself. You have a good head on your shoulders, now learn to appreciate the fact and trust your ability to reason and act, properly.

Be willing to work on the areas in your life that need improvement:

How do you handle money? If not so well, then take a class that can give you the skills you need to improve in this area.

How is your reading ability? Tutors are available if you need to advance your reading, comprehension or vocabulary.

Can you speak in public or in groups? Many people are weak in this area, but all you have to do is reach out and you can learn the techniques to be a good speaker.

Are you a little overweight or out of shape? If you think you need to get in better shape or lose a few pounds, okay. Hit the bricks and find a health club where you feel comfortable and commit to taking the weight off or getting in better shape.

If you truly want to learn to like yourself more each day then will have to be true to yourself. This is going to involve getting in touch with your fears, committing to change and taking steps necessary to overcome them. With a little effort and determination you can learn to like yourself more each day!
